Dear JACOT Readers,
We are proud to release the Spring 2019 issue of the Journal of Acute Care Occupational Therapy (JACOT). This issue features an article on spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation in acute care. The rehabilitation of patients with acute SCI is a complex and challenging process. It is critical that patients and their families receive early access to occupational therapy services, comprehensive education and timely resources to promote engagement and participation in meaningful occupations. This issue’s article highlights a quality improvement initiative within a rehabilitation department that targeted improving efficiencies and staff education in order to promote best practice in SCI rehabilitation. The author’s provide examples of who they identified a clinical problem and took action to ensure improvements to patient care were made in a timely and interdisciplinary manner.
